While Kagoshima city officials have issued evacuation orders for residents of the cities of Arimura and Furusato.
Meteorological agency officials said large volcanic rocks could fall within a radius of three kilometers from two craters in parts of the city of Kagoshima. He says that people should be very cautious within a radius of about 2 km. An agency official said in a press conference that 'Sakurajima's volcanic activity is intensifying. People in residential areas should be on high alert for large volcanic rocks falling nearby. Meanwhile, people from the areas close to the volcano have started coming out.
A task force has been formed in the Prime Minister's Office after the volcanic eruption. Japan's Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary Isozaki Yoshihiko told reporters on Sunday night that there were no reports of any major damage so far.
